Our 24-strong Brooksbank Gymnastics Team took to the floor on Sunday 8th March with some spectacular gymnastics!

Thrillingly, we placed on the podium in every category!  The competition also saw medals presented to our U14 Mixed Pair, U14 Pair and U14 Girls’ teams.

“The squads have been working extremely hard on their group routines, individual floor routines and tumbles, in the run up to the competition; and it really showed!  The squad looked fantastic and performed with enthusiasm, demonstrating outstanding precision and skill,” said team coach, Mrs Shenton.

A fantastic effort from U14 pair Zoe Reddicliffe and Isabelle Holland saw them take the Yorkshire champions title.  Isabelle and Zoe will now compete in the national finals, planned for 2nd May in Stoke.  Both were rewarded on the Friday after the event at our popular Hot Chocolate Friday date.

Winning ways were also demonstrated by Brooksbank’s U19 Girls’ Group who also became Yorkshire Champions!  Freya Nuttall, Niamh Findlater, Saffron Carroll, Charlotte Jagger, Ellie Kendall and Milly Carver all performed to perfection!

Massive congratulations go to Megan Bell who placed first place in the U14 Tumble category.  “Well done, Megan!”

We’re also proud of Holly Scott, Grace Jowett, Amy Findlater, Megan Bell, Zoe Reddicliffe, and Isabelle Holland for achieving Yorkshire U14 Girls’ Group Runners Up.

Fond farewells to two fine gymnasts

There were fond farewells too for sixth formers Freya Nuttall and Niamh Findlater, as they performed for the last time for Brooksbank.  Both have been superb gymnastics role models for the school.

Proud coach, Mrs Shenton said, “Both girls have shown huge commitment to gymnastics at Brooksbank.  Over the years, Freya and Niamh have brought home countless medals.  They are shining examples of what can be achieved on both a personal level and for the school.  This year they have helped me to train the squad and I am so grateful to them.”
