Former Headteacher presents prizes at Sixth Form Prizegiving.

Former Headteacher presents prizes at Sixth Form Prizegiving.

On Thursday, 5th January, we celebrated the achievements of a remarkable group of young people who chose to study at Brooksbank Sixth Form. Advanced-level certificates and special recognition prizes were awarded to more than 150 students. It was a chance to say hI to mates and hug besties.

We want to thank Holly Winrow and Dylan Underwood for presenting the evening and Cheyney McCarthy for entertaining us on the piano. They did a great job!

It was fantastic to see Mr Kevin McCallion grace Brooksbank's main stage again! Many readers will know Kevin is a former headteacher at Brooksbank who led our school from 2011 to 2020. Kevin's love of sports and the arts and his charismatic leadership style enabled Brooksbank and its students to flourish in countless ways.

We also enjoyed listening to Mr Dave Puddephatt, Director of Sixth Form, who told students how delighted he had been to inspire and support the students throughout their sixth form journey and beyond. Mr Puddephatt recounted his highlights, including Charity Days, a coast-to-coast cycle ride, Sports Day, Brightsparks Quiz and a fabulous celebratory Prom. Both speakers applauded students' tenacity and determination as they battled with pandemic lockdowns and bubble learning.

Exceptional evenings must end at some point, and we thank our former Head Girl, Claudia Holme, for stepping up. Claudia expressed her thanks to all the staff who had gone the extra mile to support her at Brooksbank Sixth Form.
