Luke's tumbling triumph for Team GB

Luke's tumbling triumph for Team GB

Congratulations to former Brooksbank student Luke Whitehouse! This spectacular young athlete and Brooksbank alumni is rapidly rising to the top echelons of international gymnastics.

Luke has won a gold medal for Great Britain in the Men's Floor Final at the European Gymnastics Championships in Turkey. His sensational performance coincided with his debut for Great Britain and is undoubtedly a sign of great things to come.

The twenty-year-old gymnast performed what he described as "the best routine of my life" in April as he twisted and tumbled his way to gold in Antalya and helped his Team GB win Bronze overall.

The twister pulled off a world first in a World Challenge Cup event in Croatia in 2022 when he became the first known gymnast in the world to complete a triple-back somersault at just nineteen years old.

Luke gained a Sports Scholarship at Leeds Beckett University after leaving school and is currently studying for a Sports Therapy BSc degree. He trains for thirty hours at Leeds Gymnastics Club every week!

Luke's next leap up takes place in September at the World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium, in preparation for Paris 2024.

We wish Luke the very best in his fantastic adventures in gymnastics.
