Exam Invigilator
Scale 3, Point 6


The Brooksbank School is a large, comprehensive school and specialist Sports College. It is an
oversubscribed 11 to 18 co-educational school with over 1,800 students on role.


We are looking to recruit energetic and enthusiastic Exam Invigilators to assist our Exams Officer in the
invigilation of exams. The post will involve providing support to ensure the smooth running of external
examinations under the direction of the Exams Officer. Casual hours to be worked as and when
required to assist with the supervision of exams.


Experience of invigilation is not required as training in the role and duties of an Invigilator will be
provided.

  • Invigilators are required to declare if they have invigilated previously, whether they have any current
    malpractice sanctions applied to them and, if they have any relatives taking external exams each
    season.
  • Invigilators are required to confirm their availability in advance of main exam periods.
  • On completion of training, Invigilators must confirm the confidentiality and security requirements
    surrounding the invigilation process are known, understood and will be followed at all times.

An ideal candidate will:

  • Be reliable, flexible, and readily available during main exam periods.
  • Have effective communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
  • Work well as part of a team.
  • Be confident and a reassuring presence to candidates in exam rooms.
  • Be able to give instructions and manage situations involving different groups of people.
  • Have basic IT skills and understanding to facilitate on screen exams.

Main duties
To conduct examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), awarding body
and The Brooksbank School regulations and instructions.

  • To have a key role in upholding the integrity and security of the examination/assessment process.

Before exams

  • Report to and be briefed by the Exams Officer prior to each exam session.
  • Keep confidential exam question papers and materials secure before, during and after exams.
  • Admit candidates into exam rooms under formal exam conditions.
  • Instruct candidates in the conduct of their exams.
  • Deal with candidate questions.

During exams

  • Supervise and observe candidates at all times and be vigilant throughout exams.
  • Keep disruption in exam rooms to a minimum.
  • Deal with emergencies or irregularities effectively.
  • Deal with candidate questions according to the regulations.

After exams

  • Collect in order and check candidates’ personal detail on script cover.
  • Supervise the dismissal of candidates from the exam room.

Other tasks

  • Undertake training, update and review sessions as required.
  • Undertake, where required and where able, other duties requested by the Exams Officer, for
    example.
  • Centre supervision of exam timetable clash candidates between exam sessions.
  • Facilitating access arrangements for candidates, for example as a Reader, Scribe etc. (full
    training will be provided).
  • Other exams-related administrative tasks including maintaining question paper security by
    supporting the ‘second pair of eyes check’.

Casual Sports Hall Assistant
(£11.77 per hour)

Start Date: ASAP depending on notice

The Brooksbank School is entering an exciting new chapter as it starts its journey with the Together Learning Trust, a highly respected local multi-academy trust; a close family of local schools with one aim – to deliver extraordinary education for every child, every day. 

We are looking for someone to: 

Work on evenings and weekends under direction of our Sports Hall / Lettings Manager to assist with the smooth running of our excellent sports facilities’ 

Duties will Include-

·         setting up for various out of hours sports activities

·         making sure all users on site have a safe and enjoyable session

·         quality checking fitness equipment 

·         maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout our facilities

In addition to the above, we’re looking for someone who is self-driven and wants to deliver the best service. It’s important that you can demonstrate a solution’s focused attitude, maintaining a positive outlook and work well in a team.
