All Year 11’s seeking an apprenticeship receive 1:1 targeted support from our C&K Careers Advisers, this includes help to find apprenticeships, making applications, creating CV’s/ covering letters and preparing for interviews. Students receive email notifications of relevant vacancies and get the opportunity to meet employers at our annual Career Fair in November. Employers are also invited into school to take part in mock interviews with our apprenticeship seekers and prepare them for the world of work, previous companies involved include O2 and Nestle. Apprenticeships are promoted throughout a student’s time at The Brooksbank School and essential employability skills are developed through the Careers and PSHE programme. Training providers, employers and Further Education Colleges are welcomed into school at various points in the Careers programme, to ensure students have all the information they need to make an informed choice about whether an apprenticeship is right for them.

In Year 13, those seeking apprenticeships are identified early and invited to join a specific tutorial programme that runs for 7 weeks. Led by Jason Hopley the C&K Careers Adviser;  labour market information, guest speakers, interactive lessons and careers advice are combined to support job seekers to identify their areas of interest and to secure employment in their chosen field. Similarly to the programme lower down the school, 6th formers are supported to find vacancies, apply, create CV’s, prepare for interviews and assessment centers. Vacancies are shared direct with students via email and a weekly drop-in run by the Careers Advisers is available for additional support.
