The last week of April saw some excellent rugby league results for Brooksbank.  We had had two teams competing in two Yorkshire Cup Finals, and a Year 10 side inching ever closer to the all-important National Schools’ Final.

The Year 7 team maximised their efforts in this local derby.  Thrillingly, Brooksbank beat neighbours Ryburn Valley to become County Champions.  The final score of 20-8 reflected this team’s confidence, ability and resilience in rugby.

In Year 9’s Final against Archbishop Sentamu Academy of Hull, Brooksbank’s victory proved even more decisive.  This self-assured team played to win all the way, producing a forceful 50-6 result at full time.

Both matches took place on Thursday, 26th April, at the Featherstone Rovers LD Nutrition Stadium.

Brooksbank’s Year 10 side saw action in the National Schools’ Competition when they played away in London on Wednesday, 25th April.  The boys met Hinchley Wood School at the Quarter Final stage.  Producing a resounding win of 42 points over 14, Year 10’s upbeat journey to Final continues.

A huge “Well done!” to all three teams: Years 7 and 9 are now proud Yorkshire Champions and Year 10 will play Saddleworth School or The Mirfield Free Grammar in the Semi Final of the National Schools’ Competition.

Congratulations to all our winners and best of luck to our Year 10 Team!
